Lot: 10  Description: GREAT NORTHERN- stainless steel etched wall art that hung in the coaches of the 1950 Great Northern Streamlined Internationals that ran between Seattle & Vancouver. Each coach had 4 panels that were created by famous muralist Vincent Maragliotti from drawings of Northwest scenes. The artist died in 1978 at the age of 90. There were four coaches total so only 4 full sets were produced. This beautiful example measures 15" x 25 1/4" and is mounted on Masonite backing. The consignor has a complete set but we start with this one with the remaining sold in subsequent auctions. The family's father was a yardmaster on the Burlington RR in Chicago. It is important to note that Mr. Maragliotti's work is very collectible and quite valuable so our starting price is a fraction of what some of his pieces have sold for. The family is aware of one other complete set in a private collection otherwise hard to say if the others have survived. Signed and dated 1950 this amazing piece of railroad advertising will be a treasure for the lucky buyer.
