Lot: 157 Description: SANTA FE SUPER CHIEF EL CAPITAN - stenciled on round Plexiglas drumhead sign. This is the sign only minus the can. Measures 26" diameter this one is showing use but certainly understandable considering where they were. The railroads started using Plexiglas instead of actual glass in the 60's as they found them to be way to fragile. Has one small star crack just below the logo and otherwise shows normal scratches and edge discoloration. Blue tape has been put around the edge to protect it. Certainly worth investing in a reproduction can so that this could be enjoyed for many years to come. A complete one with original can sold for over $4000 a couple of years ago. Certainly worth the starting bid for this great piece of Santa Fe glory days. Minimum bid: $1,000 Price Realized: $2,050 |
