Lot: 63 Description: AT&SF RY BUILDERS PLATE - 12" round bronze builders’ plate from engine 984 built in April 1917. Outer border embossed "Rebuilt at AT&SF Shops, San Bernardino Calif." From a 2-10-2 engine built by Baldwin #23978. Ron Muldowney was kind enough to share the following information: "This locomotive was on display at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St Louis. It was sent to San Bernadino to be rebuilt as a simple operation locomotive in 1917. The locomotive was retired in June of 1956, and sent to Merchant's Steel & Supply for scrapping." Background has been painted in red & black. Plate does still have a slight curve with small scratches around the edges. A nice offering from the Andy Saez estate.
