Lot: 504 Description: SILVERTON RAILROAD PASS – 1890 silver watch fob pass No. 29 issued to C. F. Hoeckel. Enamel shows wear, as the rainbow colors are totally faded but overall, very acceptable. Mr. Hoeckel owned The C.F. Hoeckel Blank Book Co which was the official printer for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. These unique passes were issued by Otto Mears and are very scarce as only a small number of these have survived. Unlike their silver pass counterparts, these were often dismissed as just a small token, not realized by many as an actual railroad pass. One of the stand out pieces offered in this sale.
