Lot: 222 Description: SSW DIXIE SERVICE PLATE - 10 1/4" round service plate showing gold "Dixie" in the center with raised floral decoration around the outer edge. This plate is in beautiful condition. Note that when tilted, it does show light scratches and wear. This plate was made for the Dixie business car in the early 1900's. Manufactured by Minton. In my 40 years of business, this is the first I have had the pleasure of listing. A real treasure that will make a unique and rare addition to the finest collections.
PLEASE NOTE: It has been brought to my attention that this is possibly not authentic as the "DIXIE" does not match the ones shown in Dick Luckin or Doug McIntyres book. There is a definite difference in the font used. So I feel it only right that the minimum is lowered and this is sold with this information in mind.
