Lot: 440  Description: JAMES J. HILL MEMORIAL – “At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Saint Paul held on June thirteenth, nineteen hundred sixteen, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted;” this beautifully bound and eloquently written 9 page book pays tribute to his 36 years as director of the bank and noting his financial abilities to not only run the institution but his need to help all hard working businesses, rather farmer or merchant with the finances needed to be successful. Signed in the back by not only the board but what appears to be the many employees of the bank with a promise to give copies to his wife and family. This book is bound in elephant hide with embossed 14k gold seal on the cover as well as ornately printed pages highlighted with gold gilt. There were 32 grams of gold used to complete this amazing piece. Book is housed in presentation case with gold clasps embossed with “H” initials. Without a doubt one of the stars of this issue and will again be a treasure for the new and lucky owner.
