Lot: 122 Description: ROCK ISLAND NOSE PLATE – cast iron back with stainless steel applied plate on top. This amazing piece measures 24” x 19” with 10 mounting holes and center crease for engine mount. Red enameled background. Reverse shows heavy rust & scale. Outer border shows small split by center right side hole, otherwise very acceptable condition.
Please note: There is some red paint on the edges of the lettering which could suggest that it was repainted at one time, however, it was not uncommon for the railroads themselves to repaint things. Minimum bid: $500 Price Realized: $2,700 |
