Lot: 5 Description: DENVER & RIO GRANDE PHOTOGRAPH – Original albumen photograph by William Henry Jackson titled “Black Canon of the Gunnison.’ This historic view shows Jackson & his associates relaxing on a flat car. Photo is housed in the original wooden frame with embossed leaf design around the edges, however there is some damaged areas. Measures 30 ¼ x 26 ¼”. Circa 1880’s this famous view is often found in books and publications however authentic mammoth is a find. The mat shows damage, and the print does have moderate foxing with a few small flake tears. I would highly recommend reframing in an archival setting to protect this piece from future decay. Still scarce and another welcome addition. Minimum bid: $380 Price Realized: $380 |
