SILVERTON RAILROAD FOB PASS
View:  Main (LargeView 2 (Large)
Lot: 455  Description: SILVERTON RAILROAD - 1890 silver watch fob pass NO. 329 issued to N.P. Hill. Without question one of the stars of this issue. Nathaniel Peter Hill (1832-1900) was a mining entrepreneur who is considered the savior of Colorado's mining industry. He brought smelting to the Colorado gold miners which revived the industry. In 1871 he was elected Mayor of Blackhawk and in 1879 he was elected to the US Senate. In 2005, Mr. Hill was inducted into the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum located in Leadville, Colorado. This rich history just adds to the desirability of this incredible historical piece. These passes are extremely rare when compared to the silver Otto Mears filigree or flat passes as fewer of these have surfaced over the years. This pass is in nice condition found with all of the inlay still intact and with beautiful strong embossing. A treasure that will be a welcome addition for years to come.
