Lot 84

Lot: 84 Description: ROTARY SNOWPLOW - Cooke Locomotive & Machine Co. built January 1900 sold to my consignor in 1998 as being from C&S #0271, later renumbered #99201. The rotary was used on the Denver to Leadville line and the engine was moved to the Colorado Railroad Museum in 2018 after being abandoned for over 40 years. Plate measures 10" x 7 1/2" with two mount holes. It should be noted that Cooke built 4 narrow gauge Rotary engines in 1900. None of these plates had individual construction numbers thus they were all identical. One was sent to Argentina, so it is unlikely that this is the plate. The other three were C&S, D&RG and White Pass & Yukon. Give this information it is unfortunate that we are unable to prove provenance. However, regardless this is without a doubt will be welcome addition to any collection and a rare find no matter what line it may have been built for. Minimum bid: $500 Price Realized: $2,250 |
