Lot: 340  Description: D&NO RR C – (Denver & New Orleans CAR) serif letters engraved in arch on panel of brass heart shaped lock manufactured by Post & Company with Patent date Jan. 1, 1878. Shackle is very loose, and some spring remains in the key cover. This company was formed in 1881 by Evans, David Moffat along with others and the first 52 miles were built in May of 1882. The route went along Cherry Creek and out to Parker, Elizabeth and Elbert. Dark patina and nicely marked. It is safe to say this is most likely not in working order but still a rare and welcome addition to any lock collection.
