Lot: 462  Description: SILVERTON RAILROAD COMPANY - 1889 silver type B annual pass No. 106 issued to Fred Walsen, Treasurer. Mr. Walsen was truly a Colorado pioneer and businessman from coal mining to railroads and politics he made a name for himself that is ingrained in the history of Colorado. In 1882 he joined forces with Otto Mears and was involved with him in the building of the Silverton, Silverton Northern and the Rio Grande Southern Railroads. Mr. Walsen also was elected as Treasurer of the State of Colorado in 1883. These beautiful passes are a true treasure of early Colorado railroad history and one of the most sought-after collectibles to be offered today. Comes with the original typewritten envelope that the pass was presented in. Without a doubt one of the stars of this issue and will be a prized addition to the next caretaker’s collection. Please Note: Pass is heavily tarnished but has been lightened for the photo.
