Lot: 139 Description: D&RGW WHISTLE (Denver & Rio Grande Western) -Brass 5 chime stair step locomotive whistle measures 20" high x 8" diameter. Base is cast iron and all flanges are intact. Complete with drop bottom valve but missing the lever. It does appear to have two brazing repairs one on the bowl and one on the top of the long chamber (see on line photos for more detail). It seems obvious that this one saw a lot of service, and that it was repaired rather than replaced. The “D&RGW” casting is the strongest I’ve seen in a very long time.
