Lot 190

Lot: 190 Description: AT&SF GLORIETTA PLATE - Top marked with Santa Fe Route draped logo in the center. Manufactured by Dun Bennet & Co. Burslem, England. Plate measures 8" diameter with scalloped edge gold border. Dainty blue floral design around the edges. Light utensil marks in the center well. I have made every effort to examine this piece. The edges are rough which is due to the way they were cut originally. There is one small spot that I can feel with my finger that might suggest a very minute chip but under a glass I am unable to see anything. So, I mention this for accuracy only! It is believed this pattern dates to before the turn of the century making it one of the earliest patterns used by the railroad and without a doubt gives us a picture of the kind of elegance the lucky passengers at that time got to experience. From the Warren Scholl estate this is a one-of-a-kind offering that will become a prized possession for the new owner. It is important to note that a special wooden box was built to house the plate with brass engraved tag applied to the top. Minimum bid: $4,000 Price Realized: $11,250 |
