Lot 17
Price Realized: $480![]() |
Lot: 17 Description: OTTO MEARS - sterling silver mining spoon made by Henry Bohm a jeweler in Denver at the turn of the century. The reverse reads, Henry Bohm, Denver and Colorado Silver. These were reportedly given to the guests at a banquet that was held in Silverton, Colorado in 1891. As described in Mr. Strong's book of silver passes this beautiful and rare spoon shows a scene where miners are lowering an ore bucket down the shaft to the workers below who are shown loading the bucket to be lifted to the surface. It is hard to say how many of these were originally offered and even more how many have still survived. It should be noted that several of these with the same design have surfaced over the years, however, the distinguishing marks with "Colorado Silver," and Henry Bohm are what determines the connection with Otto Mears. An early and scarce piece of Colorado history that will be a treasure for the new owner. Minimum bid: $200 Price Realized: $480 |
