Lot: 475  Description: RIO GRANDE SOUTHERN RR/ SILVERTON RR – 1892 Silver filigree annual pass No. 138 issued to T. B. Blackstone. Hallmarked S. Spitz, Santa Fe. Mr. Blackstone was the President of the Chicago & Alton Railroad from 1864 to 1899. Mr. Blackstone kept the line from bankruptcy and once re-organized refused to accept a salary. He was also the first President of the company that controlled the Union Stock Yards. He passed away in 1900 from pneumonia. These beautiful passes were each individually crafted. Otto Mears was such a pioneer and his relics continue to hold their value along with the fascination with the railroads he built.
