UPD&G LANTERN

Lot: 378  Description: UPD&G (Union Pacific Denver & Gulf) on shoulder of R.R. Signal Lamp & Lantern Company double wire guard frame with twist off bell. Comes with matching clear cast UPD&G extended base globe. Frame is in nice condition with smooth surface and showing a couple of small areas of beginning surface rust. The globe is beautiful with strong cast and showing only a couple of very small nicks on top & bottom edges. It goes without saying that this is one of the rarest Colorado narrow gauge railroad lanterns to be offered publicly. This is only the 2nd known frame from this manufacturer. Most of these are found in A&W frames which would suggest that the railroad only ordered one time from this company. The globes alone are rare enough but to be found housed in this rare frame just makes this the cream of the crop for the new lucky caretaker. We have all been witness to some wonderful treasures that have surfaced over the years but this one will be the talk of the hobby when the dust settles. I am thrilled to be able to showcase this one.
