Lot 114
Price Realized: $3,800![]() |
Lot: 114 Description: MEARS JUCTION - Wooden sign post from the Denver & Rio Grande narrow gauge Mears Junction which was located on Marshall Pass eleven miles southwest of Salida. There is a great photo taken by Bob Richardson of this sign next to the water tank on page 194 in Alamosa/Salida and the Valley Line by Richard Dorman. Sign measures 60" x 17" x 2". Wood is understandably cracked and weathered but has been reinforced on the back with the addition of wooden braces. Wording is still very visible. The sign was in place until 1955 when the Marshall Pass line was scrapped. We sold this sign in 2007 originally and now it has come back to be passed on to the next lucky caretaker. If only these wonderful relics of bygone days could speak? So, we have to leave it up to our imaginations and our continued love of this hobby. Keep in mind that the size and weight will affect shipping charges. Still a true one of kind offering for the lucky new owner. Minimum bid: $1,000 Price Realized: $3,800 |
