Lot: 93 Description: PENNSYLVANIA RR - Keystone front end number plate #3871 off of a K4s, 4-6-2 engine #1923. 3 mounting posts and measures approximately 18" x 20". Heavy scale and rust evident on the mounting posts but plate appears to have been cleaned and painted and does weigh 30lbs, so shipping charges will reflect that. Given the frequency of fake plates I tried to do my research in regard to this offering. Ron Muldowny along with a couple other very knowledgeable collectors were very helpful. The general consensus of no casting numbers and without the typical ridge was a cause for concern. However, the thought that this could have been a recast done by the Pennsy given the obvious scale buildup was very plausible. So as always, I will stand behind this 100% for a full refund if not completely satisfied. Both this and the previous lot came from the same estate.
