Lot: 16  Description: OLD COMPANY'S LEHIGH ANTHRACITE HARD COAL - reverse painted glass counter top light advertising the coal as "Economical, Long Burning, Even Heat." Metal angled box holds light bulb sockets that sit behind the colorful glass. Overall this one measures 21 1/4" x 11" high and 5 3/4" deep. Metal box is showing understandable wear as the original black enamel is wearing leaving a spotted finish. The glass is removed by raising it carefully removing it from the box. Needless to say, a little precarious but it is the only way to change the bulbs. One small corner of the glass is chipped. I was reluctant to plug this in as the wiring is definitely all original, so I leave it up to the new owner. A great early piece of advertising history that will be a center piece for the new caretaker. Again from Mr. Shankweiler’s estate.
